Golden Milk Tea has been made for hundreds of years in Asian and South East Asian countries for hundreds f years. The healing properties of its ingredients have once again be ‘re discovered’ and have taken center stage in the health food sector. Fortunately all of these ingredients are available locally and don’t cost very much- and can be found in the local market.
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 tbsp virgin coconut oil
- 2 sticks cinnamon or, 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 piece turmeric 1 inch, unpeeled, sliced thinly
- 1 piece 1/2 inch ginger
Whisk all ingredients together on a low simmer. Let stew for around five minutes. The milk should turn a beautiful golden yellow. To let it infuse more, let it sit for five more minutes with the heat off. Strain out the whole pieces into a mug.
Sprinkle cinnamon before serving.
