Last December 7, 2017, Mesa Ni Misis, together with its partner MovEd and their Pasig campus launched Diversey’s Soap For Hope Campaign. Regional director Stefan Phan flew in to Manila to demonstrate the soap making process himself! Engaging, endearing and passionate, Stefan was able to convey the message of Diversey to the community.
High end hotels such as the Fairmont and Raffles in Manila change their soaps on almost a daily basis. The only partially used soaps normally get collected and thrown into a landfill. This totals to almost 3 tonnes of unused soap per year that is thrown into a landfill from one single hotel. Diversey’s Soap for Hope initiative collects these soaps and recycles them into new bars of soap that can be distributed to underserved communities or to be used as livelihood programs where the members of the community make new bars of soap to sell.
The December 7 launch was the beginning of a partnership between Diversey and Mesa Ni Misis. Our partner community, MovEd Pasig will be partner site for the Fairmont and Raffles Soap for Hope program. Look out for our products!
