Kamote tops are a powerful antioxidant with numerous healing properties. Around 10 years ago, I got struck with dengue not once, but twice. I had gotten two out of four possible strains. My mom had read about the healing properties of drinking the water that kamote leaves had been boiled in, and how it could raise platelet levels. Sick in bed, I had nothing to loose by trying this concoction. As the doctors checked my blood tests every two hours, my platelet count rose by the thousands, until finally after two days of drinking kamote tops water, my platelets were at a safe level and I was allowed to go home. I used this remedy the second time I was sick and it gave the same results: the kamote tops had hastened my recovery.
On their own, kamote tops have an almost muddy flavour when juiced. Mixed with pineapple, which has powerful enzymes on its own, it makes a refreshing drink. Take this to boost your immunity and start your day right!
- 1 bunch kamote tops, any colour
- 1-2 slices pineapple
Juice the kamote tops and the pineapple in a juicer one at a time.
Alternatively, if there is no juicer, blend the two ingredients together in a blender with 1/2 cup of water.
Pour the mixture through a sieve or strainer and press down on the pulp to get the juice out.
Making it in a blender with some water will dilute the juice a little.
